Here is another rumor in the rumor mill that Verizon and Google have partnered up to bring you the first Android tablet.

Albeit, a rumor, it does surely make sense.  I mean how long does Apple think that Verizon will wait to bring a tablet to their lineup?  And Verizon is also famous for strategically testing and launching products at the right time.  What better time than Black Friday!  Lets stay tuned for this to hit the news waves.

I for one, cannot wait to see this device in action.  We will keep you updated!

This last weekend the EVO² team really came together to above all – make it a fun weekend. As everyone was strutting their BBMe t-shirts provided by partner, Blackberry, it was apparent that EVO² would not allow its San Francisco Bay Area followers to complete their weekend without a dash of EVO²-ism! (evo-2-ism is the ability to jump out of your box, have fun, make sales, and interact with our valued customers)

We are truly proud of the commitment to excel and hard work put in by all this past weekend – not to forget to mention the quirky sense of humor(s) that flowed throughout the Bay Area from one EVO² store to the next!

Enjoy the Pix! And in case your wondering – yes, if anyone was not joining the EVO² kitchen that day – they were cheezed with the one and only Cheez Whiz!

brandon rocks it!

Today Verizon Wireless, Motorola, Google and Adobe took the stage at a press conference in New York City to announced the new Droid X, Verizon’s latest in its series of Android devices. The Droid X is a slab-style touch phone. It has a 4.3-inch screen with WVGA resolution (854 x 480 pixels), HD video capture and playback, HMDI out, streaming DLNA support and streaming video content. It can use its internet connection to create Wi-Fi hotspots for up to 5 other devices (additional $20 per month). It also has a 1GHz Texas Instruments OMAP processor and an 8 megapixel camera. It will come with a lot of video content, such as V CAST Video, NFL Mobile App, BlockBuster, Skype Mobile and Back-Up Assistant. It as 8GB of internal storage and supports up to 32GB in the microSD slot. The Droid X will be preloaded with Swype for easier typing on the software QWERTY keyboard. Other radios include Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi. The Droid X will run Android 2.1 Eclair at launch, but will receive the Android 2.2 Froyo and Flash Player Mobile 10.1 via an over-the-air software update by the end of the summer. The Droid X will be available July 15 for $200 after a $100 mail-in rebate. Verizon Wireless said that any customer who’s contract ends in 2010 will be able to upgrade to the Droid X at the upgrade price point.

Motorola Droid 2 COMING!

Posted on 06.17.10

Looks like Verizon and Motorola are coming clean with the Droid X a little earlier than planned — it just appeared on the official Droid page, complete with confirmation of that 4.3-inch screen size. Interestingly, rolling over the image reveals a box that says it has a “720p screen,” which would be crazy — especially since the Droid X prototype we played with had what looked to be the same 854 x 480 resolution as the original Droid, although we couldn’t confirm it at the time. A true 720p screen res would also be far denser than the 800 x 480 panel on the EVO 4G, so we’re thinking Verizon actually means 720p out over HDMI, not anything else. We’ll see though — the official launch event is still set for June 23, and we’re still waiting to find out about the slider Droid 2, so there are a lot of potential surprises still to come.

Verizon and Google are working on an Android-powered tablet device that will compete with the iPad, Verizon Wireless’ CEO confirmed to the Wall Street Journal Wednesday.

Lowell McAdam told the newspaper that the companies are working together on the project, but did not confirm a timetable for a release or any other specific details about the device such as a manufacturer.

The two companies have recently collaborated on several popular mobile devices, including the Droid smartphone.

A couple new browsers hit the Android scene this week. SkyFire released its SkyFire 2.0 browser to the Android market, offering Flash video playback and pinch-and-zoom capabilities. FireFox also released a pre-Alpha build of the FireFox Mobile browser, codenamed Fennec, with some unique capabilities of its own. Check out our hands-on video of both browsers in action on a Google Nexus One.

Early HTC Incredible reviews are coming in, and are praising Verizon’s newest Droid smartphone, due out later this month.

An HTC Incredible review goes through its numerous features. The phone has HTC’s Sense UI, which is different from the interface on the Nexus One, as well as Google’s latest release of Android, 2.1. The phone has a 3.7-inch display, 8GB of internal storage, and runs on a 1GHz processor. Users can also upgrade the internal storage to up to 32GB via MicroSD cards.

There is no physical keyboard for the phone. Instead, users must rely on touch-screen technology that seems to be taking over mobile products. Another draw to the phone is the Leap feature, which handles multitasking and the Friend Stream, a social network aggregator. Verizon’s site also boasts 30,000 apps in the Droid market for use on the phone.

Ginny Mies of My PC World said the phone is speedy and that the display is “gorgeous.” She liked the Sense UI, and the Leap feature. Joshua Topolsky of Engadget said the HTC Incredible is “the best Android device you can purchase in America right now.” He was particularly fond of the speed of the phone, as well as the camera.

Will Park from IntoMobile said the features on the phone are impressive, but points out that since the phone is on Verizon’s network, voice and data can’t be used at the same time. Finally, Gizmodo’s Matt Buchanan lists the phone as the “must-buy” smartphone provided by Verizon. And while Buchanan echoes other reviewers’ love of the speed, camera, and interface, he did comment that the phone itself can feel a little cheap.

The phone retails at $199.99 after a $100 instant online discount with a new two-year contract.

HTC Incredible reviews are likely to boost pre-orders for the phone, which will be available April 29. This is around the same time as the Nexus One will also become available to Verizon customers.

15 Useful Motorola Droid Tips

Posted on 02.25.10

verizon-droid-3
With the Motorola Droid reaching the masses, it was only a matter of time before users started looking for tips and tricks about their new and capable phone. Here are 15 Motorola Droid tips that we found very useful.

1. Quick Launch. If you will hold the home button, the Droid will bring up a list of the 6 most recently used applications. Quite a time saver this one.

2. Mount Droid Via USB. If you want to transfer files between your SD card and your computer, you can do this very quickly by connecting the USB cable and then selecting USB Storage->Mount from the menu.

3. Turn on/off Wi-Fi, GPS, etc… Keep the home button pressed and select “Widget Power Control” from the menu. This small widget allows you to quickly turn off connectivity options and change brightness.

4. Hide the keypad. If you have no use for the touch keypad that appears on your screen, you can hide it by flicking them down. If you want to bring up the keypad, tap the field.

5. No Magnets Around. Make sure that you do not place the Motorola Droid in any holster that contains magnets. If the Droid detects magnets, it will switch to the “car mode”, eating up more of your battery.

6. Use Phone Number. This trick was implemented in phones for a while now, but it is still worth mentioning. If you receive an email or an SMS with a phone number, you can click and hold that number to bring up a menu. This menu will let you save the number, send an SMS to it, etc
7. Set An MP3 Ringtone. If you want to set an mp3 file as a ringtone, upload the song (maybe using the method we presented above), play it then go to Menu->Set As Ring Tone. Now the respective song will be set as your new ringtone.

8. Copy / Paste. Make sure you make use of the copy/paste feature when it is needed. It can really help you when moving text around. Select a text field, go to Edit Text->Copy/Paste.

9. Select A Single Word. If you want to select a single word so you can copy/paste, double click that word. Than you can use the method above to copy/paste.

10. Vibrate Functions. If you want to turn of the vibrator, go to sound settings and check the vibrate box. Maybe you don’t want it to ring but you want to know when somebody is trying to call you.

11. Quick Sillence Swipe the screen to the left to put the Droid in silence mode.

12. Perform A Voice Search. To use the voice search, just hold down the search button (it’s the magnifying glass) and wait until “voice search” is brought up.

13. Save Web Pictures. When browsing the net, you may encounter lots of pictures that look nice. If you want to save a picture from the web simply tap and hold that picture and select “save”.

14. Website Shortcuts. If you are constantly visiting a certain website, you might want to add a shortcut on the home screen for it. If this is the case, bookmark that website, go back to the home screen, tap somewhere and hold it down. The menu that will appear will give you the info you need for creating a shortcut.

15. Pinpoint Locations. When somebody sends you an address over an email, just click and hold that address to look it up in Google Maps.
