Here is another rumor in the rumor mill that Verizon and Google have partnered up to bring you the first Android tablet.

Albeit, a rumor, it does surely make sense.  I mean how long does Apple think that Verizon will wait to bring a tablet to their lineup?  And Verizon is also famous for strategically testing and launching products at the right time.  What better time than Black Friday!  Lets stay tuned for this to hit the news waves.

This last weekend the EVO² team really came together to above all – make it a fun weekend. Today Verizon Wireless, Motorola, Google and Adobe took the stage at a press conference in New York City to announced the new Droid X, Verizon’s latest in its series of Android devices. The Droid X is a slab-style touch phone. It has a 4.3-inch screen with WVGA resolution (854 x 480 pixels), HD video capture and playback, HMDI out, streaming DLNA support and streaming video content. It can use its internet connection to create Wi-Fi hotspots for up to 5 [...]]]> Today Verizon Wireless, Motorola, Google and Adobe took the stage at a press conference in New York City to announced the new Droid X, Verizon’s latest in its series of Android devices. The Droid X is a slab-style touch phone. It has a 4.3-inch screen with WVGA resolution (854 x 480 pixels), HD video capture and playback, HMDI out, streaming DLNA support and streaming video content. It can use its internet connection to create Wi-Fi hotspots for up to 5 other devices (additional $20 per month). It also has a 1GHz Texas Instruments OMAP processor and an 8 megapixel camera. It will come with a lot of video content, such as V CAST Video, NFL Mobile App, BlockBuster, Skype Mobile and Back-Up Assistant. It as 8GB of internal storage and supports up to 32GB in the microSD slot. The Droid X will be preloaded with Swype for easier typing on the software QWERTY keyboard. Other radios include Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi. The Droid X will run Android 2.1 Eclair at launch, but will receive the Android 2.2 Froyo and Flash Player Mobile 10.1 via an over-the-air software update by the end of the summer. The Droid X will be available July 15 for $200 after a $100 mail-in rebate. Verizon Wireless said that any customer who’s contract ends in 2010 will be able to upgrade to the Droid X at the upgrade price point.

Looks like Verizon and Motorola are coming clean with the Droid X a little earlier than planned — it just appeared on the official Droid page, complete with confirmation of that 4.3-inch screen size. Interestingly, rolling over the image reveals a box that says it has a “720p screen,” which would be crazy — especially since the Droid X prototype we played with had what looked to be the same 854 x 480 resolution as the original Droid, although we [...]]]> Looks like Verizon and Motorola are coming clean with the Droid X a little earlier than planned — it just appeared on the official Droid page, complete with confirmation of that 4.3-inch screen size. Interestingly, rolling over the image reveals a box that says it has a “720p screen,” which would be crazy — especially since the Droid X prototype we played with had what looked to be the same 854 x 480 resolution as the original Droid, although we couldn’t confirm it at the time. A true 720p screen res would also be far denser than the 800 x 480 panel on the EVO 4G, so we’re thinking Verizon actually means 720p out over HDMI, not anything else. We’ll see though — the official launch event is still set for June 23, and we’re still waiting to find out about the slider Droid 2, so there are a lot of potential surprises still to come.

Verizon and Google are working on an Android-powered tablet device that will compete with the iPad, Verizon Wireless’ CEO confirmed to the Wall Street Journal Wednesday.

Lowell McAdam told the newspaper that the companies are working together on the project, but did not confirm a timetable for a release or any other specific details about the device such as a manufacturer.

The two companies have recently collaborated on several popular mobile devices, including the Droid smartphone.
